Now that Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) against COVID-19 declared General Community Quarantine (GCQ) Alert Level 4 in NCR; finally, the wait is over! Get your summer tees ready because AirAsia Philippines has opened its gates to non-essential travelers from Metro Manila today, September 16, 2021, to some of the most getaway destinations in the Philippines.

In Memorandum No. 136-A released by IATF, interzonal travel will now be allowed for guests who are above 18 and under 65 years of age. The subject to quarantine restrictions will be imposed by the Local Government Unit (LGU) including their intended destinations.

Travelers from Metro Manila are now allowed to fly with AirAsia going to Caticlan (Boracay), Davao, Zamboanga, Tacloban, and Tagbilaran in Bohol as long as the respective local restrictions are applied to these locations under the said level.

The decision to allow leisure travel outside NCR was very good news

According to AirAsia Philippines spokesperson Steve Dailisan, they welcomed IATF’s decision to allow leisure travel outside NCR. For Dailisan, this will certainly be of help to bring back the glow and recovery of the industries in tourism, airlines, and the small businesses that were affected by the pandemic.

“In AirAsia, we value our shared responsibility with the government to ensure guests safety across all touchpoints of the customers’ journey,” Dailisan said

The majority of the tourism frontline workers in Boracay, Bohol, and Cebu were already vaccinated which is why the opening has been very timely as well.

Observe all health protocols

Meanwhile, AirAsia PH reminds its guests to continue following strict health and safety protocols for each destination.  Travel documents such as negative RT-PCR (swab or saliva) test, vaccination card, confirmed hotel booking, and local tourism QR codes may also be required for verification at the check-in counters and upon arrival.

To enhance the travel experience for guests, AirAsia Philippines is extending its UNLI Flight Pass once more from its original booking redemption period of 16 October 2021 to 17 January 2022.  Consequently, the travel period has been extended from  October 30, 2021, to the 31st of  January 2022.

“The extension of the UNLI Flight Pass will allow both leisure and essential travelers to maximize their pass benefits and save ahead for their trips. It also gives them the chance to regain any halted travel plans especially during Ber months where a lot of homecomings and family vacations happen,” Dailisan added.
