AirAsia Philippines’ incredible role in uplifting travel and tourism

AirAsia Philippines’ incredible role in uplifting travel and tourism

If there is one thing AirAsia Philippines is doing, they are playing an incredible role in uplifting travel and tourism industry of the country. Last June 25, 2021, AirAsia signed a Memorandum of Agreement with the Hotel Resorts and Restaurants Association of Cebu Inc. otherwise known as HRRACI. This move is aimed at promoting safe domestic travel in Cebu, which continues to thrive through its self-sustaining tourism industry.

The HRRACI is a non-profit, non-government organization that provides an avenue for strategic partnerships among its member companies, associates, schools, and other stakeholders with the common goal of promoting Cebu as a world-class tourist destination.

The MOA signing event was held in Bai Hotel, Mandaue, Cebu where a simple program was held to celebrate the partnership.

Supporting local tourism by tying up with tourism boards in the Philippines

The travel and tourism industry in the Philippines was greatly affected by the covid-19 pandemic. It is also home to more than 500,000 employees and staff, including those from the airline industry. As the pandemic continues to pummel this revenue generating industry, the Department of Tourism and AirAsia Philippines have been working their way through turbulent skies to keep this industry from totally crashing.

Just like with HRRAC, AirAsia continues to support the rebound of the travel and tourism industry by tying up with various tourism stakeholders and boards. For the case of Cebu, HRRAC-accredited restaurants are part of the AirAsia A-access, a privilege program where both AirAsia and non-AirAsia guests are granted access to exclusive offers from a wide selection of partner establishments across Cebu and key destinations around the country. Not only does this promote domestic tourism but also helps rebuild industries greatly affected by the recent lockdowns.

While the travel and tourism industry is reeling from the effects of this pandemic, AirAsia continues to provide a boost by promoting safe travels. This will further help in boosting more confidence for people to go out and travel safely once again.

AirAsia Philippines' incredible role in uplifting travel and tourism

Interconnectivity is very important for the travel and tourism industry to flourish again

AirAsia’s move of partnering with tourism stakeholders and organizations as official partner airline is a powerful statement of the airline’s commitment to support the tourism industry of the Philippines. Tourism needs fast interconnectivity and the airline provides such.

AirAsia has also been thinking out of the box not just to provide air transport but by coming up with other solutions to help propel the rebuilding of the travel industry. One way is by being a complete travel solution for all travelers. AirAsia’s app and website has become a one-stop platform that provides tourists and travelers faster and a more convenient way to plan their future travels. This include hotel bookings and reservations. Of course, discounts and promos are included here.

A landmark partnership

The partnership between AirAsia and the HRRAC is considered a “landmark partnership” as this further strengthens the local travel and tourism industry of Cebu. As borders slowly opens, the Cebu tourism board has been up on its feet in promoting local tourism towards the island of Cebu. AirAsia becomes that complete solution in providing travel great deals for all who plan to visit and tour Cebu in order to enjoy its many attractions.

HRRACI President Alfred Reyes said, “The COVID-19 pandemic has demonstrated to the tourism  industry that trust, partnership, and solidarity are essential for revitalizing travel as we anticipate the reopening of borders. On behalf of the whole HRRACI, we are excited for this partnership. We are passionate about innovating through partnership and technology and see the way people book and experience travel.”

“This inked initiative between airasia and HRRAC has a wide impact in terms of our industry partners to find solutions and stimulate demand and largely help the struggling travel and tourism industry.”

“With this collaboration, HRRACI remains committed to providing greater convenience, and value to customers and our members, which has become ever important in this pandemic.

A powerful advocacy for local travel and tourism

We are very happy that AirAsia gives so much importance to the travel and tourism industry which has been really devastated by the pandemic. We hope that air travel soon returns to normal. The Philippine tourism industry is sure to be more resilient in the future, thanks to the support and efforts of AirAsia Philippines in becoming a complete travel solution. AirAsia Philippines is indeed that “knight in shining armor” in the rebuilding of domestic travel and local tourism.
