AirAsia is looking forward to return to Clark by fourth quarter of 2021

Prior to the pandemic Philippines AirAsia would operate flights from Clark International Airport. However, flights from the Central Luzon main gateway has been put on hold due to the Covid-19 pandemic and the drop in air travel demand. However, AirAsia is looking forward to return to Clark by fourth quarter of 2021 or this year. They also plan to launch flights from the new terminal 2 of Clark International Airport!

Clark International Airport Terminal 2 will complement the existing terminal and will be able to accommodate triple its existing capacity of 4 million passengers. The new terminal will be around 100,000sqm, almost as big as Hong Kong’s Chep Lap Kok International Airport terminal 2.

The facade of the airport is inspired by the mountain ranges within the area namely Mt. Pinatubo, Mt. Arayat, and the Sierra Madre Mountain Range.  The roofline uses longspan metal and a glue-laminated (timber) structure. Warm, tropical tones make the structure blend with the landscape.

The airport must also be the most advanced in the country as of this day. It boasts end-to-end contactless experience from the bus ride, check-in, bag drop and even when ordering meals. It is the perfect airport indeed under the new normal.

AirAsia Philippines looks to restore both international and domestic flights at Clark

Prior to the pandemic, AirAsia Philippines flights to 10 domestic and 3 international destinations from Clark namely, Cagayan de Oro, Caticlan, Cebu, Davao, Iloilo, Puerto Princesa, Tacloban, Incheon, Kaohsiung, and Taipei. Hence, the airline is definitely not a newbie at Clark. In fact, AirAsia’s first commercial operations in the Philippines began at Clark in 2012 before operating from Manila.

It will indeed be a “there’s no place like home” once AirAsia resumes its Clark hub operations!
