Exciting times ahead as AirAsia releases its flight schedule following the opening of leisure travel. Under the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) Resolution 118-A, leisure travel can now resume from NCR Plus to provinces under Modified General Community Quarantine (MGCQ). All are subject to travel regulations set by their respective LGUs and their local IATF.
We just hope that LGUs would have a more consistent set of requirements instead of different requirements per LGU.

The reopening of leisure travel is a welcome to the travel and tourism industry
The Philippines’ Department of Tourism has indeed welcomed this recommendation by the IATF. According to DOT secretary Berna Romulo Puyat, “Allowing leisure travel for all ages from the NCR Plus Bubble to MGCQ Areas will surely help local tourism back on track towards recovery.” However, this is no time to be complacent. Another surge due to complacency can cause another lockdown and restriction. This still has to be dealt with utmost precaution.
AirAsia Philippines spokesperson Steve Dailisan said, “AirAsia knows how much we all miss the beautiful beaches, food and iconic spots of Boracay, Bohol and Cebu among others but please be responsible travelers. By being responsible, we mean you should adhere to the guidelines set by the LGU’s and submit only legitimate RT-PCR test results. While on summer vacation, be mindful of the safety protocols in each destination to protect yourself and your family.”
Increased mobility for vaccinated individuals
AirAsia also supports the move to give vaccinated individuals more freedom of mobility which can be done through a digital passport. Aside from encouraging more people to get themselves vaccinated against Covid-19, this will lessen travel requirements. In fact, Presidential Adviser on Entrepreneurship Joey Concepcion recently proposed for a ‘vaccine pass’ which would supersede other travel requirements such as health clearance of the different LGUs.

Lately, going on a domestic travel is as hassle as obtaining requirements for an international visa due to the number of requirements. This is also one reason why many people are hesitant to travel yet.
Given all these, you may go plan your trips. Besides, we do all need a break. Just don’t be complacent anymore as another surge will throw us back to square one.
