The Panglao Dive Festival includes activities like underwater photography competition and a free-diving competition. While most would think that the great dive-spots are in Batangas and Palawan, Panglao boasts a number of dive spots too for those who want to explore more marine biodiversity around the Philippines. To name a few are Balicasag Island, the Arco Point, Habagat Wreck, and Neptune Water.

Due to the decreasing number of Covid-19 cases particularly in the NCR plus bubble, the DOT and LGUs are slowly reopening travel and tourism once again. We do all want to go again, don’t we? The Panglao tourism industry has felt this increase since the reopening of leisure travel. Tourist arrivals in Panlao has increased from 200 to 300 daily.

Panglao as one of the top diving spots in Asia

There is just so much to see in the Philippines. Aside from the white sand beaches which makes the top spots in the world’s best beaches rankings, the country is filled with underwater biodiversity worth protecting and seeing. Panglao is one of those places that boasts such beautiful spots for diving, and the Panglao Dive Festival overall chairman wants this place to be a top dive spot in Southeast Asia.

“Panglao indeed is the first town in the province of Bohol to reopen the tourism industry under the new normal, slowly, gradually, but with strict implementation of health protocols.  Together with industry partners and the community, Panglao has slowly recovered.  It’s a long way, but together, we will revitalize our economy and bring back the livelihood of the residents of Panglao.”

Councilor Aya Montero-Caindec

Panglao Dive Festival overall chairman
