For the Holy Week exodus, AirAsia Philippines has increased flight frequency by 30%

Manila, Philippines, 5 April 2022 – AirAsia Philippines is preparing for an estimated 131,000 passengers to travel via NAIA Terminal 4 during Holy Week and the rest of April.

To better meet the surge in bookings during the religious holiday, the World’s Best Low-Cost Airline has raised its flight frequency. AirAsia Philippines increased its weekly flight frequencies by 30% month over month in April to accommodate more Filipinos travelling for Holy Week and the summer season in general.

Caticlan has increased to 41x weekly from 34x last month in March; Iloilo has increased to 28x from 14x; Tacloban has increased to 28x from 23x; Tagbilaran has increased to 18x from 14x; Bacolod has increased to 18x from 11x; Puerto Princesa has increased to 10x from 9x; Davao 14x from 11x; Cagayan 11x from 9x; Kalibo has increased to 18x from 11x; and Cebu 26x from 21x weekly.

Caticlan (Boracay) has the biggest number of travelers, with 37,881, Tacloban has 13,737, Panglao has 13,303, Cebu has 12,778 and Kalibo has 11,754 guests already booked to fly during the approaching peak travel season.

“ We acknowledge the significance of the Holy Week celebration for Filipinos,” stated AirAsia Philippines Head of Communication and Public Affairs and Spokesperson Steve Dailisan. While our Catholic brothers and sisters commemorate this religious observance, AirAsia continues to provide a safe and affordable travel experience for travelers flying to their provinces this holiday season. We are dedicated not only to the highest health standards, but also to the strictest security requirements, especially now that all of the country’s interzonal travel laws have been eased.”

AirAsia Philippines, which recently relocated its domestic operations to NAIA Terminal 4, has allocated 12 check-in desks and four self-check-in kiosks near the terminal’s entry. This is in place to help visitors flying to 13 different AirAsia Philippines destinations avoid huge lines.

Returning to its former home at the NAIA Terminal 4 — a single-level terminal – provides better convenience for AirAsia Philippines’ passengers, as the move relieves the rapidly expanding foot traffic at the NAIA Terminal 3. However, the airline still advises passengers to arrive at the airport three hours prior to their scheduled departure time to ensure a smooth check-in process, especially during busy times.

“As we continue on our route to recovery, our main goal in gradually increasing our flight frequency is to offer our brand of inclusive flying to more Filipinos.” We’re especially excited since our newest destinations, Dumaguete, will open this week, and our Roxas flights will begin in June. “Not only for the aviation industry, but for all industries associated to it, 2022 is the year of recovery,” Dailisan added.

Once airlines start running at full capacity again, the Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) forecasts passenger volume at the recently opened Terminal 4 to exceed 1.5 million per year.

AirAsia Philippines is following strong health and safety standards at T4 to ensure the safety and security of all passengers. Guests will still be required to wear a face mask at all times, and valid identification and vaccination cards will be required for entry, especially to destinations that require them.

Apart from online booking and check-in, AirAsia Philippines recommends that visitors download the airasia Super App for contactless facial check-in and boarding, as well as to utilize the app’s capabilities.
