“AirAsia Philippines welcomes greater summer demand as Metro Manila and the majority of AirAsia destinations go to Alert Level 1”

For the month of March, AirAsia Philippines had a 131% rise in the number of seats sold for travel.

Only fully vaxxed customers require a vax card when flying with AirAsia Philippines.

The 3.3 Summer Blowout by AirAsia Philippines offers one-way base fares as low as P233 to popular summer destinations.

Manila March 1, 2022- The Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF) has placed Metro Manila and 38 additional provinces, predominantly AirAsia destinations, under Alert Level 1 from today until March 15.

Under Alert Level 1, intrazonal and interzonal travel is permitted for all public transportation, including aircraft, which will operate at full capacity. More individuals are likely to travel as a result of this, especially since all AirAsia destinations now accept vaccination cards for fully vaccinated travelers. Guests who are only partially vaccinated will be allowed, but they will be subject to LGU travel restrictions such as antigen tests.

However, even before the warning level was lowered, AirAsia Philippines had already sold a massive 145,978 seats for travel between March 1 and March 31, 2022. This represents a 131% increase over the same month in 2021.

Steve Dailisan, a spokesperson of AirAsia Philippines, said: “AirAsia Philippines attributes this significant increase to revenge traveling with relaxed travel protocols being implemented in most of its destinations. In fact, we are looking forward to sustaining full capacity in time for the various festivities in the different provinces we fly to. Our contribution to our LGU destinations moving forward is to bring as many guests as much as we can with strict adherence to standard health and safety protocols.”

In the meantime, the Malay-Boracay Tourism Office reported 47,500 local and international tourist arrivals on the island in February alone. In January, the Bohol Tourism Office reported the same buoyancy, with 4,196 visitor arrivals. From December 2021 to February 2022, the Puerto Princesa Tourism Office registered 1,158 tourist arrivals.

Guests can take advantage of AirAsia Philippines’ 3.3 Summer Blowout and purchase one-way base fares as little as P233 for popular locations such as Boracay, Cebu, Bohol, Puerto Princesa, Davao, and Cagayan De Oro, given the imminent surge of passengers.

For the month of March, AirAsia Philippines increased its flying frequency. Flights to popular summer destinations such as Caticlan have been increased from 18 to 34 times weekly; Kalibo, another gateway to Boracay, has been increased from 7 to 11 times weekly; Cebu has been increased from 14 to 21 times weekly; Tagbilaran (Panglao) has been increased from 7 to 14 times weekly; and Puerto Princesa has been increased from 7 to 14 times weekly. Flight frequency to other locations such as Bacolod was increased from 7 to 14 times weekly; Iloilo was increased from 7 to 14 times weekly; Tacloban was increased from 21 to 23 times weekly; and Cagayan was increased from 7 to 9 times weekly.

“We are confident that summer 2022 is really the onset of recovery not only for AirAsia Philippines, but also to all other airlines in the country. We expect travel to flourish especially with different festive seasons we have from April to May. We are also expecting a sustained demand until May due to voters coming home to the provinces in preparation for the May 2022 election,” Steve Dailisan added.
