Flights to Siargao have been resumed by Philippine Airlines

BUTUAN CITY — On Tuesday, Philippine Airlines (PAL) resumed regular commercial flights from Manila to Surigao del Norte’s Siargao Island.

After Typhoon Odette wreaked havoc on the island in December of last year, regular Philippine Airlines flights were discontinued.

Del Carmen, where the Sayak Airport is located, was one of the towns on the island that was damaged by the typhoon.

A Philippine Airlines commercial flight arrived at Sayak Airport around 9 a.m. on Tuesday.

Every Tuesday, Thursday, and Sunday, the airline flies to Siargao three times a week.

Proserfina Coro, Mayor of Del Carmen, and Francisco Matugas, Governor of Surigao del Norte, welcomed the return of Philippine Airlines flights to the island.

Matugas commended the Philippine Airlines management for the reopening of the facility in a radio broadcast on Tuesday on RPN DXKS.

“An executive order was previously issued by the provincial government relaxing the health protocols in the province for the fully vaccinated individuals who will visit Surigao del Norte,” Matugas said. (PNA)
