We all want everything to normalize, especially now that we miss traveling to different places. So do the airline industry. They are greatly seeking ways to return to normal operations and to help rebuild the travel and tourism industry. Qatar Airways is leading the way in vaccinating its employees and staff members. Currently, more than 95% of Qatar Airways employees have been vaccinated.

Qatar Airways CEO Akbar Al Baker believes that the vaccines play a very important role in the industry’s return to normalcy. As a result, Qatar Airways has inoculated more than 95% of its current operating staff. This includes also airport staff, airline staff, ground handling staff, and retail outlet staff.

Qatar Airways had always been pushing that everyone takes the vaccine as achieving herd immunity is very important in order for travel demand to return. Just last April, Qatar Airways operated the world’s first fully vaccinated flight. All the crew and passengers on this flight have been fully vaccinated with 2 doses.

Majority of the world’s airlines are indeed finding ways and means to get all staff vaccinated. United Airlines is no different. Just lately, United Airlines now requires all new hires to be fully vaccinated. In a Twitter post shared by Skift’s Brian Sumers, it said, “As we welcome new employees to the company, it’s important we instill in them United’s strong commitment to safety. As part of this commitment, effective for all job offers made after June 15, 2021, we will require any external candidates for U.S.-based jobs to attest that they have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19 by their start date. They will be required to upload their COVID vaccine card in My Info no later than 7 days post hire date.”

Lately, more airlines around the global are taking initiatives to make sure all their employees are vaccinated. Air Baltic now also requires new hires to be vaccinated. Alliance Airlines have also required its employees to take the vaccine. All El-Al’s staff who face customers and passengers have been vaccinated since February. Also as mentioned earlier, Qatar Airways employees continue to be vaccinated.
