The Philippines received over 21,900 inbound travelers in just ten days after reopening its borders to international tourists.
Tourism Secretary Berna Romulo-Puyat said – “The recent influx of tourists reflect foreign tourists’ enthusiasm towards visiting our country, which in turn will accelerate the revival of our tourism industry,”
According to data from One Health Pass (OHP), there were a total of 21,974 incoming visitor arrivals in various airports across the country, according to the Department of Tourism (DOT).
From February 10 to February 19, 2022, 10,074 Balikbayans and 11,900 international tourists arrived.
Puyat expressed her satisfaction with the recent data, predicting a far better outcome in the months ahead.
“We at the DOT continue to be optimistic that this trend will be sustained and will support not only the tourism industry but also the recovery and growth of our economy,” she said.
With 5,516 visitors during the ten days, the United States of America (USA) leads the way, followed by Canada (1,366), the United Kingdom (918), and South Korea (859), Vietnam (572), Japan (459), and Germany (447).
Egypt, Maldives, Palau, Albania, Estonia, Greece, Malta, and Uruguay’s COVID-19 vaccine certificates will be acknowledged as proofs of immunization necessary upon arrival to the Philippines, according to Puyat.
These eight countries were added to the 12 previously approved by the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID) Resolution No. 162 of the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID).

“The health and safety of both visitors and hosts remain our biggest priority as we open our borders to fully vaccinated tourists. This reopening is made possible by the high vaccination and booster rate of workers in tourism-related industries,” Puyat said.
