More Covid-19 vaccines from Beijing set to arrive via Philippine Airlines

Another set of Covid-19 vaccines are due to arrive today at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) via a Philippine Airlines (PAL) Airbus A330-300 flight. Around 500,000 doses of Sinovac vaccines are scheduled to arrive today at 5:50pm via flight number PR359 from Beijing.

Including today’s haul, around 2.4 million doses of vaccines has been flown into the country by PAL. The continued airlifting of vaccines are very essential in fight versus Covid-19. So far, the Philippines continues to experience an average of 10,000 daily new cases of Covid-19.

The recent surge has forced the PHL government to put the National Capital Region, or NCR, under a modified enhanced community quarantine status. Air travel has once again been restricted to essential travels only.

Travel demand

Vaccines may help in bringing back travel confidence. Hopefully, herd immunity would be achieved sooner with more Filipinos being vaccinated. Herd immunity may help bring back travel demand. This would definitely help our airlines recover sooner, particularly our domestic sector. While domestic travel is somehow flourishing in other countries like China and Vietnam, this has yet to be seen in the Philippines.
