AIRASIA AIMS TO MAKE FUTURE TRAVELS FRICTIONLESS

There is no doubt that the pandemic has caused major changes in the way of things. Either seeing it from a personal or a societal perspective, we are bound to adjust to the new normal. And as people continue to adapt and find ways to make life less difficult during these trying times, AirAsia has a lot to offer.

A survey conducted by AirAsia Philippines among Filipino travelers last December 2021 has revealed that one of their prime concerns when travelling is having less contact with other people as much as possible. These people continue to look for safer ways to travel. And contactless transactions showed to be the most preferred solution, specifically hoping to digitize passenger boarding and booking processes. Some of their other concerns include value for money and improved flight timing.

AirAsia is one of the first airlines in the Philippines to take action towards a safer travel experience by embracing digitalization. According to Ricky Isla, Chief Executive Officer of AirAsia Philippines, they aim to make people’s lives safer and more convenient through the use of AirAsia’s Super App where their guests may process necessary documents, booking process, flight check-ins, etc. at least 24 hours before their scheduled flights.

AirAsia Philippines has also made it convenient when it comes to payment options by partnering with the Philippines’ top e-wallet solutions: GCash and PayMaya. From the same survey, the majority of the respondents with 31% revealed that they use e-wallets for their payment transactions, proving that AirAsia Philippines is on the right track for taking this step.
As people continue to live with the presence of COVID-19, AirAsia will likewise continue with its digitization. They will further develop and improve their system promoting health and safety measures for its guests and flights.
Guests may now upload their vaccination cards to the Department of Health’s VaxCert PH through the Super App. This will be included in the guests’ databases, which can be used for future purposes.

AirAsia also allows unlimited move flight options until March 26, 2022. They are also granted waiving charge fees if guests experience flight disruptions, which can all be processed through the Super App.

It is expected that AirAsia will launch the world’s first facial recognition technology called FACES as part of its ongoing process of shifting to contactless procedures. The said launch will take place sometime around the 2nd or 3rd quarter of 2022 and will be made available through the Super App. Guests would only need to upload a selfie, along with a copy of their passport or national ID, and do a 1-time verification process at the check-in counter.
