AirAsia remains hopeful about the revival of demand for air travel despite new Delta strain

Despite finding a new strain of the highly contagious COVID-19 Delta variant, AirAsia Philippines remains cautiously hopeful about the significant recovery of air travel demand.

Despite discovering a more contagious version of Delta is terrible news for airlines, Mr. Isla thinks that Filipinos, like other citizens worldwide, have successfully adjusted to the obstacles posed by the global health problem.

Most European countries, especially the United Kingdom, have found the AY 4.2 variety or ‘Delta Plus,’ a subvariant of the Delta strain. China and Thailand are two other Asian countries that have reported cases of the new strain. Meanwhile, the World Health Organization (WHO)-Philippines alleviated Filipino anxieties by stating that, while they are actively monitoring, ‘Delta Plus’ is not yet deemed a variety of concern and has not yet entered the Philippines.

Mr. Isla emphasized that defeating COVID-19 is a shared responsibility. He also advised AirAsia passengers to exercise responsible travel in the new normal, which includes adhering to all regulations imposed by Local Government Units and rigorous adherence to the protocols in place at all stages along your journey.

Cebu, Caticlan (Boracay), Kalibo, Bohol, Tacloban, and Cagayan de Oro, Bacolod, and Iloilo are among the AirAsia Philippines destinations that no longer require passengers to show negative RT-PCR testing.

AirAsia commends its LGU partners’ move to provide fully vaccinated travelers with more mobility. Mr. Isla said, “As we continue to experience the easing of restrictions, our guests can expect strict observance to safety protocols throughout their journey with us. Likewise, we remain committed to offering more affordable deals which allow them to see their loved ones in the provinces and visit must-see places in our network of key leisure destinations.”

AirAsia has maintained the most outstanding safety standards, including contactless check-in, boarding, inflight, and baggage pickup processes. AirAsia Philippines was the country’s first airline to fly with a completely vaccinated crew.
