“AirAsia Philippines will resume three foreign routes in order to boost tourism”

To help speed the recovery of the labor and tourism sectors from the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, AirAsia Philippines will launch two new domestic routes in April and May, and restart three overseas destinations in April.

“Resuming flights to important Asian cities will not only promote economic prospects, but will also hasten the recovery process, particularly in the labor and tourist sectors,” AirAsia Philippines spokesperson Steve Dailisan told the Philippine News Agency on Tuesday.

AirAsia Philippines will resume service to and from Bali, Indonesia, Bangkok, Thailand, and Incheon, South Korea by April. The flight frequencies for these, according to Dailisan, may be revealed next week.

Prior to the epidemic, he claimed, the airline flew twice daily to Incheon, once daily to Bali, and 11 times weekly to Bangkok, serving tourists and overseas Filipino employees. The following are the pre-pandemic load factors: 84.4 percent in Incheon, 89.8 percent in Bali, and 92 percent in Bangkok.

“The opening of the Dumaguete and Roxas (routes) will help to reinforce the Central and Western Visayas gateways by providing passengers from these provinces with more safe and convenient flights,” Dailisan added.

According to a press release, the government’s reduced travel rules and protocols have had a significant impact on inbound travel and domestic tourism.

“The adaptable method used in our pandemic response is exactly what our country requires to advance,” he added, adding that the carrier is pleased with the development.

After nearly two years of shutdown because to Covid-19 pandemic restrictions, the Philippines reopened its borders to properly vaccinated foreign tourists on February 10. Quarantine is no longer necessary for inbound international travelers.
