Singapore Airlines restarts Airbus A380 flights to New York via Frankfurt

The A380 has resumed service between Singapore and New York.

Singapore Airlines reintroduced its Airbus A380 aircraft to New York City on March 28th, with a daily service through Frankfurt. Flight SQ26 leaves Singapore at 23:55 and arrives in New York JFK at 11:10 a.m. the next day. This includes a stopover in Frankfurt for 1 hour and 50 minutes.

On the same day, the airline began its daily nonstop trip to Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR), bringing the total number of daily flights to three. Two of the flights, including the nonstop JFK, are among the world’s longest.

Singapore Airlines took advantage of the COVID-induced delay to renovate several of its A380 jets with the latest six-suite layout. There are 78 lie-flat business-class seats, 44 premium economy seats, and 343 economy seats on the plane.

The airline initially operated this layout in 2017, but not in the United States, according to Travel Weekly. Following the pandemic, Singapore Airlines primarily flew to New York on the A350 or B777 aircraft.

On the double-decker jet, the carrier’s first-class suites are among the most sumptuous in the world. Each cabin has a 50-square-foot living area with reclining leather armchairs, a soft bed, and sliding doors for further privacy. Additionally, two first-class customers can combine their accommodations to create a 100-square-foot space. On a regular commercial trip, this allows passengers to sleep in a double bed at 35,000 feet.

A closet, blackout window shades, and a hotel-style nightly turndown service are all included in the A380 suites to NYC, as well as a 32-inch HD touchscreen TV and a mobile tablet to control the lights and in-flight entertainment.

A one-way first-class ticket from Singapore to New York City costs roughly $9200 when booked a month in advance.
